DLSA Monthly Satsang @ the Park July 3rd 2016
It was a beautiful sunny winter morning. We were all very pleased, we had decided to move our July `Satsang' outdoors - a picnic at the Olympic Park.
Most members & friends started arriving by 11am, some with their little four - legged family members too. Chairs & mats were laid out under the heavenly sun. Our resident swami, Sri Uditramanandaji started off with opening prayers & some, more melodious than usual, `bajans', after which we sat together on mats & tried to imitate Swamiji in his, so easily twisted looking Yoga poses, only most of us were struggling to twist or put those heels down in a squat pose - hmmm...definitely need a bit more practice. Fortunately, we had some tiny little guests who made us all smile with their almost perfect poses.
After the final pose of bending backwards & then forward, touching our toes, some of us went off for a brisk walk, while others got out the cricket bat & ball. It definitely seemed like Swamiji was having a ball, playing cricket with the kids.
In the meantime, while some members had brought along their technology & were trying to assist each other transfer the Ocean Of Compassion Drama files across, some of us laid out the table with an elaborate lunch consisting of various cultural dishes including fruit & sweet meats. As usual, we had more food than needed, thanks to members & friends who lovingly made their offerings. I am quite certain, most of us over-ate & had more than 1 cup of punjabi `masala cha'.
However, that was not the end of our lovely day out. Swami Radhikananda Mataji brought out her cards of questions on the Ramayana. Before she asked each question, she'd say, `This is a very easy one'...only we were struggling to think up the answers. Nevertheless, we did have a Champion in Alan, who blurted out most answers, with ease. Of course, his very funny & entertaining brother - in - law, tried to take the credit, but we knew, it was the fabulous work of Sri Swami Uditramanandaji. Alan has been `secretly' training under Swamiji, in “Advance Scripture Study”.
Then of course, we can't forget the ‘Runner Up’, Shivansh, our very young member & devotee who so eagerly put up his hand & got a few right answers too. Now all he has to do is to catch up with Alan. The rest of us, mmmm.....probably need a bit more brushing up.
After a few more cups of `cha' it was time to pack up, so at almost 3.30pm, we all loaded up our cars, not forgetting our little pets..
I'm sure everyone will agree, we definitely over-ate, had a lot of fun & hope to do it again. Please come join us next time.
You'll find the photographs of the picnic on our website, as they get loaded.
